The 7th Indigenous Economic Development (IED) Forum was held in Alice Springs recently, and the NTIBN was honoured to have delegates from our board attend in supporting and recognising Indigenous business. Running between the 18th and 20th of October, the event took place at the Alice Springs Convention Centre and was hosted by the Northern Territory Government.
At the forum there were a range of opportunities for people from a diverse range of backgrounds to come together and advance sustainable economic outcomes for Indigenous Territorians through the promoting of services and programs, the sharing of knowledge and experiences, and the exploring of various opportunities, including business partnerships.
One other part of the forum this year was an Indigenous Business Expo, which provided an opportunity for Indigenous business in the Territory to showcase their products and services to a very wide customer base, as well as develop partnerships to help in growing their business in the future.
Overall the forum was a wonderful success. It was great to see so many familiar faces in the crowd, as well as so many new faces embarking on opportunities in the future. The NTIBN was represented by board member Yvette Carolin, who presented on our organisation and was interviewed by the Central Australian Aboriginal Media Association (CAAMA) Radio.
