Measuring the Impact of Indigenous Businesses on the NT Economy

About the project

The Northern Territory Indigenous Business Network (NTIBN) has engaged Yamagigu, together with Deloitte Access Economics, to assess the economic and social impact of Indigenous businesses across the Northern Territory. This important research aims to demonstrate how Indigenous businesses contribute to the NT economy, generate employment, strengthen communities, and create lasting social and cultural value for Indigenous people and the wider Territory.

We want to reassure you that your insights are in safe hands — all survey data is fully de‑identified before analysis, NTIBN staff never see individual responses, and your contributions are treated with the utmost confidentiality. Your honesty helps strengthen our collective voice, and we’re grateful for your participation.

Your involvement

To accurately estimate the economic and social impact of Indigenous businesses, we need to understand how they differ from other businesses in the NT. This includes insights into costs, revenue streams, operations, and the broader contributions your business makes to your community and the economy.

By completing this survey, you’ll help shape a stronger evidence base that highlights the real value Indigenous businesses deliver. The results will support:

  • Stronger advocacy for Indigenous businesses and NTIBN members;

  • Improved policies and targeted investment;

  • Greater procurement opportunities and business growth; and

  • Recognition of the unique role Indigenous enterprises play in driving economic prosperity.

If you don’t have access to exact figures, please provide your best estimate. The survey should take no more than 30 minutes to complete.

Confidentiality

All data collected will be used exclusively for this research project. Information provided will be securely held by Yamagigu and Deloitte Access Economics, treated as strictly confidential, and de-identified before analysis.

The final report will present results only in aggregate form, ensuring no individual business or respondent is identifiable.

For more detail regarding our privacy policy and the collection and storage of your data please see Deloitte's Privacy statement.
