Shell Indigenous Scholarship Program

Traditional Owner groups have highlighted the need for youth education pathways to jobs, with tertiary scholarships being a preferred solution.

We’re excited to launch the Shell Indigenous Scholarships program.

The program is delivered by MADALAH, a not-for-profit organisation that offers secondary and tertiary scholarships, and supported by Shell Australia and its joint venture partners for Prelude FLNG.

Each year, the program will offer the equivalent of ten full-time tertiary scholarships, providing up to $10,000 support per annum for full-time study, or a pro-rata amount for part-time study.

Participants will also receive support and mentoring to support them during their studies.

We strongly encourage Indigenous people from the following language and clan groups to apply:

• Bardi Jawi

• Yawuru

• Walalakoo

• Dambimangari

• Mayala

• Joombarn-buru

• Wilinggin (Ngarinyin)

• Wunambal Gaambera

• Nyul Nyul

• Larrakia and Wadjiginy people

The program is open for applications from 6 October 2025.

Application window closes 31 January 2026.

What can I study?

Scholarships are available for vocational education and training and/or university studies. The program will consider students studying for Certificate IV qualifications and above under the Australian Qualifications Framework. Qualifications which relate to the natural gas industry or are in high need in the community, are looked upon favourably.

What can the scholarship funds be used for?

Scholarship funds can be used for a wide range of items to support study including, but not limited to: course fees, transport, textbooks, IT equipment, uniforms, living expenses, tutoring or child-care.
