Shell Indigenous Scholarships Program

Empowering Indigenous Youth through Education

Traditional Owner groups in the Kimberley region and the Northern Territory have highlighted the need for educational pathways to jobs, with tertiary scholarships being a priority.

About the program

The program is delivered by MADALAH, a not-for-profit organisation that offers secondary and tertiary scholarships, and is supported by Shell Australia and its joint venture partners for the Prelude FLNG facility. The program will offer the equivalent of 10 full-time tertiary scholarships, providing up to $10,000 per annum for full-time study, or a pro-rata amount for part-time study. Participants will also receive support and mentoring during their studies.

Who can apply?

We strongly encourage Indigenous people from the following language and clan groups to apply:

• Bardi Jawi

• Yawuru

• Walalakoo

• Dambimangari

• Mayala

• Joombarn-buru

• Wilinggin (Ngarinyin)

• Wunambal Gaambera

• Nyul Nyul

• Larrakia and Wadjiginy people

How can the scholarship funds be used?

Scholarship funds can be used for a wide range of items to support study, including but not limited to:

• Course fees

• Transport

• Textbooks

• IT equipment

• Uniforms

• Living expenses

• Tutoring

• Child-care
